Flexible contracts with Advigon's Young Travel health insurance
“Young Travel Basic” or “Young Travel Professional” health insurance: both tariff options offer you reliable health protection "Made in Germany". And because life is not always predictable, especially as a young person, we at Advigon have tried to be as flexible as possible. You can cancel your “au pair” health insurance early if, for example, you don’t get on with your host family and return home prematurely. It is fast and easy! And if you love it so much in Germany that you want to stay longer, you can easily extend the period of your insurance cover – for up to five years.
For contracts lasting at least twelve months, you are even covered in your home country by “Young Travel” health insurance, for example if you want to visit your parents during the holiday season (maximum six weeks). And if you need to make a claim with Advigon because of an accident or a medical illness, you will be assisted by our Emergency Assistance Line – trained experts – day and night, including Sundays and public holidays!
When should you have a „Young Travel“ student health insurance?
Our travel health insurance for foreign students is particularly suitable for students and pupils who are enrolled at a private university. The prerequisite is that your private university does not require statutory health insurance (GKV) as a condition of enrolment, as it is at public universities. Therefore, please check the enrolment conditions beforehand.
If you have an European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), you can take out this insurance as supplementary cover to close any gaps in your home country’s health insurance coverage (EHIC).
For students over 30 years of age, this insurance cover is also accepted at public universities.
Health insurance for foreign students: Case study
Jack is a young student from Great Britain and spends two semesters at a private university in Germany. During a sunny weekend trip to a bathing lake, he suffered a laceration on his head while doing stand-up paddling and had to be taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital for medical treatment. His health insurance Advigon "Young Travel" steps in and covers the costs of the treatment.
When is Advigon's health insurance useful for au pairs?
Are you temporarily staying in Germany as an au pair? Then this travel insurance is suitable for you. Only if you are liable for social insurance in Germany through your work would you have to take out comprehensive private or statutory health insurance cover (GKV).
